We're alive!

I know it's been forever since I managed to update the blog. Ceana and I have both been really ill for the last 10 days and only now are beginning to feel better. She had her virus, then her ear infection, causing 105+ fevers, then just miserableness for days on end. Up every night, crying most of the day and giving herself pink eye from the virus...which she very kindly gave to me.

However. We are on the mend and finally beginning to get back to life. So, while there is really not a whole lot to talk about, I'll give a brief update.

Liam starts "real" lacrosse tomorrow. His first practice, so we just spent, um, a lot of money on all the pads and gear he needs. Including his first cup. I'm SO NOT READY to be dealing with an 8-year-old and his first cup. I can't begin to express the eye-rolling and laughter that accompanied today's shopping trip. In fact, Ceana and I went to Target while Phil took Liam to Sports Authority...seriously, I couldn't be there. Phil tried to convince me to take care of it...I told him that would be fine - if he wanted to take care of getting Ceana her first bra. He wasn't very fond of that particular idea. Not sure why ;-)

Ceana is doing well, now that she's getting over her nasty. We've got her registered at a really good preschool for next fall, and she's *so* anxious to "go to my preschool". She's growing like a weed, and getting quite the attitude to go with it. It's pretty funny, when it's not driving us crazy!

In school news, our new lease should be signed no later than the end of this week. We will have a new home for next year! It's a good thing - Liam has been having a hard time this year with a few things, and we agree with his teachers that part of it is all the students (very HIGH activity level students) all being together in such a small space is not helping. We're working quite a bit on personal space, consequences, and taking responsibility. We've also come to the conclusion that he needs more exercise, so on the days he doesn't have lacrosse, he's going to be getting up early in the morning to do some running. Get some of his excess energy out. Keep us in your thoughts - we've had some frustrations running high lately, on the part of everyone involved. The good thing is that he's not in a "normal" public school. The way things have been, I can almost guarantee that we would have had the recommendation by now to have him checked for ADHD. If he's gone to the office twice here, he'd have probably been practically living there at another school. We are so thankful (to go with frustrated) that he has the opportunity to go to SWCS and is understood as a boy who just has a lot of energy and is very physical.

Anyway, that's about it for now. I will try to post a few more times this week, but I'm warning you that this week is going to be REALLY hectic. Liam has lacrosse on Monday and Wednesday nights now, and that's going to throw us off for a while. So, while you're waiting for another post, just think of Liam trying to wear his cup without the special underwear and not understanding why it didn't work. And the look on Phil's face when he figured out what Liam was doing. God help us when it's time for Ceana to get a bra.

Someone PLEASE HELP ME.

As I sit here typing this, Liam is whining about not being able to go play with his friends and being very upset about missing his Philharmonic field trip tomorrow and possibly not one, but TWO birthday parties this weekend. Ceana is riding her bike around the house, nose dripping like a hose left on, eyes red and face crusty. Liam has begun crying and is now trying to convince dad that he can go outside with his friends without playing with them, just sitting down and watching. Promising and begging.

Why all the drama? 'Cause they're both sick. Both have viruses - though they have manifest themselves very differently. Liam has had a terribly sore throat for days and seems to have given himself pink eye. He's out of school until his eyes clear up. Ceana popped a 105.7 fever Sunday night and was up until 4AM not eating, not drinking, with horrible chills and having lost her mind (she kept asking to go home - she was lying in our bed). She popped another fever (102.5) yesterday, took a two hour nap, and then her fever broke last night at bedtime. Oh, and she gave herself pink eye too.

Took them both to the doctor today - Ceana's virus gave her an ear infection, which is what caused the terrible fever. She's getting better, but her ear is still red and she's really snotty and has a terrible cough. She's very tired too.

I don't know that I will survive having Liam home too much longer. I'm tired, frustrated, and sick of the whining. The house looks like a bomb exploded. Did I mention that I'm tired? The playroom looks worse. Oh, and I'm exhausted. My only salvation at the moment is the Olympics. If that should fail, then I will succumb. Please pray for my salvation - preferably in the form of a miraculous cure for Liam that will have him back to school ASAP. Over the weekend would be nice too.
