We're up and running

Well, we finally have internet that doesn't require me sitting on the hard floor at Liam's slow-@$$ desktop in order to do anything! So, I thought I would update. I'll try to get on with a new update every day or so to get all caught up...but with all the work we're getting done, it may not happen.

So - we are drowning in boxes. I don't remember it being this bad in the past, but maybe moving is akin to childbirth - it's long, drawn-out and painful, but the more time passes the less accurate the memories! Thankfully, this will be the last time we will have to deal with this for quite some time. And truthfully, part of the reason it's taking so long is because I am wading through years of collected crap and throwing a lot away. I kind of figure that, regardless of Phil's "but we may need it someday" pack-rat attitude, if we haven't even OPENED THE BOX in 10 years (I'm not kidding), then we're probably not going to need it. And since the move happened much quicker than we anticipated, I didn't have much time to do it at the old house.

The kids are adjusting well. In fact, Liam is loving the new house. We finished painting his room (I kid you not - it looks like the Ralph Lauren flagship bedroom.) and he loves it. It actually turned out much better than we thought when we were painting, that's for sure! We also painted the top half of the playroom (was pink) and the bottom half of the bathroom (more pink). I just got new bathroom stuff for the downstairs/guest bathroom (shower curtain, bath mat, and towel set), as well as for the kids' bathroom (same stuff). Honestly, I had no idea how expensive bathroom stuff is!!! And I shopped at Target! Anyway - Ceana is beginning to adjust. She actually slept through the night last night, rather than waking up in the middle like she has for quite some time. Hopefully, that will be the beginning of a new trend. She loves the yard and loves to talk about "Ceana's room".

We bought a new dining table and chair set at the consignment store - it actually looks pretty good in our eating area. We sold the old set on craigslist, and got almost what we paid for it 3 years ago! And I will NEVER have another oval table...

Roxie just came back from the kennel - we wanted to get her away from the movers (they were there for 3 days!!) and give us a chance to get some stuff done before we brought her to the new house. She's so nervous about change that we wanted to be a little settled in first. Oh, and we needed a gate for the "run" on the side of the house - so, I built a 77" wide gate on Sunday. Built it and attached it all by myself. I'm actually pretty proud, since I've never used a circular saw before, and rarely needed to use a drill...let alone to make something that sturdy, complete with braces and closures. It's a big adjustment for Roxie - she's not used to having a run, but it's huge and covered in gravel, making it easier to clean up after her. Plus, she should have fewer "protection" issues if there's not much to protect. Then the backyard stays clean for the kids (Roxie can be out there if someone is with her) too.

Hmm. Let's see. We're still getting used to living here - it still feels like we're living in someone else's house! We've moved so much, and always rented, that Phil and I both feel like we're either just renting again, or we're company...I think it's going to take a while for it to sink in that this is really *home* for us.

So - there's the latest update. I'm sure there's more, but I will try to update regularly. I have pictures of the kids, I need to take pictures of the house, and I still have to post about the Keith Urban concert! Complete with decent pictures this time...

Hope you're all doing well!
