First Word

Well, our little miss has finally decided what her first should be. She's become quite adept at saying it, with emphasis, and sometimes with hand gestures to match. Do I hear any guesses as to what that word might be? Anyone? Here. Let me help:

That's right. The opposite of Yes is....NO. And she LOVES saying it. She'll stand around and yell it at the cats. Repeatedly. Ask her if you can turn the TV off - "NO!". Ask to change her diaper - "NO!". And so it goes. She's not really saying much else, though she is certainly making attempts - and some of them are almost even recognizable.

Liam is doing well - still absolutely loves school. We continue to be so blessed (even with the drive) that he is able to attend this school. We just hope that they are able to find a new building for next year so that they can stay open...if anyone knows anyone who might have an available building in SW Portland, we'd love to know about it!

As for Phil - it's official. He put his retirement letter in last week. I'm a wreck. The timing is perfect as far as (hopefully) stepping into his current job as a civilian, and he can't stay in or we have to transfer next summer...but the economy is so terrible right now, that this seems like a much bigger step than it otherwise might. And of course, I'm the one bearing the brunt of the panic - Phil is...well...Phil. Half comatose, and just rolling along.

I'm still doing my Barefoot Books. I'm doing a book fair/fundraiser for Liam's school starting this week. Keep your fingers crossed it goes well - I won't be making anything, since I'm donating it all to the school, but they really need it. And maybe, just maybe, it will help get the word out.

Otherwise, things are just rolling along. Nothing exciting going on - just trying to keep our heads afloat with the economy. Glad gas has gone down, but we are both aware that it won't last for too long. And the prices of groceries are terrible...thankfully Liam is not a teenager yet!

Hugs to all!
