Fall is here...

It has officially arrived. How do I know? Just call me the human barometer. Every year, as the weather turns to fall/spring, my sinuses rebel and I end up with horrible sinus headaches on an almost daily basis. I'm probably more accurate during these two seasons than the local weatherman!

Things are otherwise going fairly well. Liam is still absolutely LOVING school. I stayed in class for a little bit last Friday, and it's apparent that every single child in his class absolutely ADORES the teacher. Very mellow, soft-spoken guy but he's got the kind of ability to know exactly how long he can let the kids be, and when to begin to reign 'em in again. Anyway, I was there because Liam took Hedgie in for Show 'n Share and Hedgie needed to come home afterwards (too distracting to stay), so...suffice to say, Hedgie was a hit. The class loved him, the teacher thought he was cool, and everyone else who saw him on my way out thought he was adorable. It was fun...

Liam has recovered from a nasty spill he took last week. He was out playing with the big boys, and tripped over a ball or something. And for whatever reason, he didn't do what tends to be reflexive - put his arms out - so he landed right smack on his forehead. Talk about drama - he was hurt pretty good, so I brought him in (he started feeling sick, so we were watching him to make sure there was no concussion)...told the big boys that they needed to be more careful - I knew it was an accident, but they tend to forget how much smaller (and less quick) he is. Then one of the mothers showed up on the doorstep, defending her son! I explained that I knew it was an accident, which is what I had said to the boys, she started in again, and then left. Not ONCE did she even ask if Liam was ok (it was her son that had thrown the ball). I was LIVID. Anyway...here is a photo of him right after the fall:
And one more:
Lookin' lovely, huh? He ended up with a couple of bad headaches for a couple of days, but otherwise shows no real sign of damage. The mark has almost faded completely as well. Now, when people ask me what's wrong with him and if he was dropped on his head as a child, I can say yes....but I didn't do it!

Phil should be putting his official retirement letter in next week. My "little nervous" has exploded into "completely terrified", particularly with the economy issues lately. Money just doesn't stretch as far as it used to - the cost of milk alone is a fortune! Christmas this year is going to be pretty small - Phil and I will probably not even be exchanging gifts.

Anyway, I think that's about it for now. Hope things are going well for all of you!
